Hitch mounted bike racks

A hitch bike rack, is a bike rack that mounts onto the tow bar of your car, (as seen in the image below) these are great bike racks as they are strong and are easily fitted if your car already has a hitch. Furthermore, they can carry large amounts of bikes and can do so without affecting the drive of your vehicle. If you’re looking at transporting a heavy bike or you are a family that enjoys bike riding together, hitch bike racks are the way to go. However, to use this style of rack your car must already have a hitch to connect the bike rack to. Without a hitch you will not be able to connect your bike rack to your car.

Roof mounted bike racks

Roof mounted bike racks are racks that go on the roof of your car. These racks are good for holding bikes, however getting bikes up to the roof of your car can be a hassle. Roof mounted bike racks require pre-existing roof racks in order to secure the roof mount to. Additionally, if you are someone that likes to park in your garage a roof mounted bike rack might not be for you, as the clearance you need is quite significant. You won’t be making this mistake more than once.

Trunk mounted bike racks

A trunk mounted bike rack, is a bike rack that mounts onto the back of your vehicle, it does it with a range of straps and tensioners, these are a great starter bike rack as you don’t need to have roof racks or a towbar to operate. There bike racks however do have weight limits and they are not as secure as a hitch or roof mounted bike rack.
