The Best Gas Cans for ATVs

ATVs are many great things, but one thing they are not is fuel efficient!

Which is okay, because there is an easy solution to that and it’s bringing along a gas can.

There are plenty of smaller mounted options that will fit your ride without getting in the way.

Let’s take a look at the 3 Best Gas Cans for ATVs:

1. RotopaX RX Gasoline Pack

Capacity: 1.75 Gallons

The most popular option for smaller vehicles is the RotopaX. They’re also in good standing with off roaders for larger vehicles as well.

They have a square compact design and although this version is 1.75 Gallons, there is a choice of buying up to a 4 Gallon unit.

One important thing to note is that this listing is only for the actual container on the gas can. Roto also has listings for the mount, and a self-venting spout. All three of those together are a good bet for someone wanting to take this on a trail.

The circular indent in the middle of the design is made specifically for their mount. With all things considered this is an excellent off roading solution for someone who wants a secure option with a few sold-separately upgrades.

We went over the more affordable options below, but Rotopax remains the best seller in this category for ATVs/UTVs and larger vehicles.

2. VP Racing Fuels Motorsport 5 Gallon Square Plastic Utility Jug Red & 14 Inch Hose (2 Pack)

Capacity: 5 Gallons

VP Racing has a two pack of 5 gallon cans at a great price if you want a storage solution for your garage, or nearby your ATV storage location.

The included hoses make filling up easy so you don’t have to fret about any spills.

They’re also big on colors too, you can get these in green, blue, or even yellow. They do have gallon markers as well and they’re some of the highest rated gas cans available on Amazon, with consistently positive reviews.

If you’re looking for something that has a capacity higher than the others we’ve mentioned on this list, we think these are a great value pick up.

Will my gas can expand with heat?

Yes, that happens! But there are options to ease the pressure off yourself here. Most important, don’t overfill. Leave some space to give your can room for expansion. Details on how much depend on your can and should be listed with instructions.

Additionally, you can either store the can in a stable temperature environment when not in use or just make sure to check it and release some pressure when you notice it needs it.

What upgrade do you recommend?

The self-venting spout! If you want an informative laugh on why this is a good upgrade, this article will help. In essence, the EPA over regulated the industry and has made gas cans a pain in the butt to pour.

This youtube video will also give you a good overview.

Getting a gas can for your ATV will give you peace of mind if you’re ever in a bind! Off roading is a fun activity, and being prepared is always a great idea. Hopefully, we were able to give you options that make your shopping decisions easier.

If you do end up getting something from this guide, let us know the good and bad about it. We love to hear from our readers. And as for our choice, we think the FuelPax 1.5 Gallon is an excellent value, but so are others.

Good luck on your search!
