The 4 Best Truck Covers for Chevy Silverados

Getting your truck dirty can be a great time, if it’s intentional.

But what about the day to day use of your vehicle? Sometimes, we don’t want birds mistaking our paint for a giant bullseye.

And if you want to keep your Silverado sparkling, a truck cover will help you get there.

Let’s take a look at the 4 best truck covers for Chevy Silverado:

1. Kayme 6 Layers Truck Cover Waterproof All Weather, Heavy Duty Outdoor Pickup Cover Sun Uv Rain Protection, Universal Fit

Kayme is a brand that has managed to make a lot of happy customers with their reasonably priced covers that are of surprisingly good quality.

And for us, that combined with the price makes it an excellent value and our top pick.

Their all-weather design comes in different sizes so you can get the perfect fit for your Silverado.

We talk about this a little more in the bottom section of this page, but Silverados tend to be longer in length. So finding a proper fitting cover isn’t always easy. Thankfully Kayme’s XL size will accommodate most Silverado’s(but double check your size before ordering).

The main thing that wears down covers like these tends to be wind. It rips at the seams over time, which is why tie downs are so important. And there are straps in the front, middle, and rear end of this to help extend its life.

The soft inner cotton layer of this product will help protect your paint. But it’s not foolproof, make sure you don’t have any dust or debris trapped between the cover and your paint before putting it on.

All in all, this is a great pickup… for your pick.. okay sorry lame joke!

2. Motor Trend T-800 Truck Cover for 2008-2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom Fit All Weather Waterproof Pickup Protection

Motor Trend is probably a name you’ve heard of before, and to our initial surprise they actually make products now.

They protect a wide range of trucks with their covers, including the Silverado.

If you have a model between 2008-2018, then getting a relatively affordable custom-ish fit is a nice thing to have.

It’s not going to be a six layer design like the Kayme, but on the bright side this thing weighs a bit less. People tend to be consistently surprised at the quality for the price! Something about how our brains work, we always expect a cheaper product to be.. well cheap.

And that isn’t the case here. If you don’t want to spend too much but still want some great bang for your buck, consider grabbing this.

3. Autsop Truck Cover, 6 Layers Truck Cover Waterproof All Weather,Outdoor Dust UV Hail Snow Protection Pickup Cover

The Autsop is in a similar price range as the Kayme with a few key differences.

The most obvious being, they’ve added some reflector strips. If you live in a place where you park your car on the street, you will probably see the value in that!

People do hit parked cars, especially when they blend in. And that little addition will help yours stand out.

This also has a bit of elastic at the ends to help keep a nice snug fit of your Silverado. Tie downs are included as well as the standard storage bag. We think it’s pretty much a toss up between the two brands of Kayme and this.

And as price tends to fluctuate we recommend buyers search both and make the ultimate decision on what’s cheaper at the time.

4. Xtrashield CarsCover 100% Sunblock Custom Fit 2000-2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 5.5ft Short Bed Box Truck Car Cover Black

The Xtrashield truck cover certainly has hit on the aesthetic portion of the usually tame car cover category by going for all black.

But did it hit on value? This comes from the brand CarsCover which is known for making exact fits for most models, but at a higher price.

And this cover is a bit up there in price for not being waterproof.  It’s actually the only featured cover in this guide that isn’t waterproof! But, we sought it fit to include it because people really like the quality of this and the fit.

If you’re not looking for an all-weather option and want something to keep the sun or dust from wearing down your vehicle over time, there are few brands that can hang with the proper sizing and stitching of this product.

So it clearly does have some limitations, but this is a sleek looking choice for those of you with a short bed Silverado.

I want a universal cover for my year of Silverado, and for it to fit. How do I find out the correct length?

The great thing about Google is that you can type any year of your truck in the search box and your make. Then it’ll give you the exact length of your model. So say you type “2020 Chevy Silverado length”. It’ll give you an accurate result.

This is important in getting the right fit. And something to note is that most Silverados are extremely long compared to most automobiiles. So most likely you will have to order your car cover large or extra large.

We’ve selected appropriate sizes in this guide, but you should also spend a couple minutes googling your exact model just to make sure the one we picked will fit.

My trucks protected with the cover now, but what about when I take it off?

The tried and true method of keeping your paint sparkling is frequent washes and car wax. Lots of waxes nowadays are synthetic and easier to apply than they used to be. They can provide you a layer of protection for up to half a year. Although we recommend waxing every 4 months.

Hey there.

We appreciate you stopping by and hopefully you found an option that fits your truck in this guide. There are plenty of options to choose from here all within a similar price range.

For us, we think that Kayme has a best seller for a good reason. And an established history of satisfied customers. But whatever you end up choosing, let us know how it worked out for you in the comments.

Good luck on your search!
